OLD REDNECK'S UNSOLICITED ADVICE
If you hang around three crackheads, you'll become the fourth.
If you hang around three average people, you'll become the fourth, too.
But if you hang around three smart successful decent people, you'll become the fourth as well.
I ain't sayin' you gotta ditch your old friends that don't got a whole lot goin' on, I'm just sayin' don't always surround yourself with them.
gimme a break, it's under construction, and I'm still stuck on 8-Track
Fried Spam, baby!
MEMENTO MORI
It's lonely in the middle.
Some say I'm not far enough to the right.
Some say I'm not far enough to the left,
I say let's go campin'! Or shootin'! Or canoein' or hikin' or fishin' or huntin' or stump-jumpin' or makin' music, lets cook some steak on the fire and help other folks when we can, no matter which way life has caused them to lean. Life is waaaay too short to be worryin' each other about it. While some of y'all are pullin' down statues and changin' street names, and while others of y'all are protestin' 'bout illegal immigration and worryin' 'bout socialism, and still others are chasin' that greenback dolla', tryin' to keep up with the Joneses, people are robbin' your social security blind.
Black vs white, gay vs straight, abortion, guns, vaccines, anything to keep us divided.
"If we keep the people fightin' each other, they won't notice what we're doin' to 'em!"
Losing a couple of really good friends and having a slight medical scare myself made me realize I got no more time for such foolishness. I'm gonna be who I wanna be. And you can be who you wanna be, and I'll do whatever I can to support your, according to our own Declaration of Independence, unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I once apoligized to my union brother Ralph, a well-respected Carpenters' Local 388 Executive Boardmember and deacon of his church, for a stranger's racist remark in our presence at a fast food joint near the union hall. Nothin' too nasty, he wasnt referring to Ralph or any person in particular, but still. As we got in the Jeep, Ralph said "Grumpy, we dont know what happened in that man's life to make him that way, but I bet it wasn't nice. I don't let it bother me, we'll let him slide, and forgive him. It ain't up to US to judge, you know."
I said "Yeah, I know."
As we pulled off from the stoplight, and after I went through the gears in that old noisy Jeep, Ralph said "But somethin' DID happen in his life, though. We just dont know what it was. Maybe his wife ran off last week with a Brother." He grinned a little, I laughed, and we went on to our union meeting.
We should all be like Ralph.

Union Reps drivin' Toyotas and grocery shoppin' at the most anti-union grocery store is BS.
Union, my ass!
There's an old Bachman Turner Overdrive tune that kinda explains it.
"I found out, the only way to the top
is lookin' out for number one
and thats me
I'm lookin out for number one."
